MATPHYTO programme The Matphyto programme has been launched in the global frame of the job-exposure matrix (Matgéné programme) set up by the Occupational Health department of the French Institute for Public Health Surveillance. In order to allow an accurate detection of the numerous pesticides, and the significant changes in their use, Matphyto programme develops farming/phytosanitary products exposure matrices, detailed by chemical substances and specific active material. In each matrix, all pesticides likely to have been used are listed for the concerned cultivations, together with three exposure measures: probability of use by a professional at a given period, administration frequency on a given plot, associated with the intensity corresponding to the average dose used. The applications of these matrices will allow describing exposure prevalence, and will help to identify past occupational exposures - which will be useful for socio-medical management. They also will help to assess individual exposure in epidemiological studies. This document presents the methodology used to implement this farming-exposure matrices as well as theirs characteristics and application methods. |
